Nanxiang Ancient Town (Shanghai, China)

Recently I assisted on a race in Shanghai, my hotel was located close to the Nanxiang Ancient Town in the Jiading District. Walking those old streets at night was like being sent back in time. The old houses, the small bridges, and the water canals create an amazing combination. The Jiading Fahua Pagoda Tower, which you can see reflected in the water on the left side of the photo was constructed during the Song Dynasty between 1205 and 1207. Sunken Palace or Basilica Cistern (Istanbul, Turkey)

The Basilica Cistern, or Yerebatan Sarayı (“sunken palace” in Turkish), is the largest covered cistern in Istanbul City. When I entered the cistern, I could not believe it: the place is enormous! At 140 m x 70 m, it could hold 80,000 cubic meters of water. It is supported by 336 columns and many carp and goldfish swim around the base of these columns. Do you like this photo? Jiading Confucius Temple (Shanghai, China)

Not far from Nanxiang Town is the Jiading Confucius Temple. I was not able to visit it during the day, but I was happy I was able to capture this beautiful gate at night. Jiading is known as a “state of education” and the Confucius Temple stands as the source. La Ciotat Old Port (France)

I took this photo in the old port of La Ciotat, a beautiful city in the French Cote D'azur area. It was a warm autumn morning and there were not many tourists around. However, many cafés, and restaurants that are filling the first coast line were opened and ready for clients. In the photograph you can see the Our Lady of the Assumption Church half hidden behind the boats and surrounded by pretty 17th century houses. Do you like this photo? Calanque de Port Miou (France)

I took this photo long time ago, I had to work in two different races in the nearby circuit of Paul Ricard and I had two free days between them and I decided to visit the surroundings. It was a great decision, the circuit is located in the "Côte d'Azur", a beautiful coastal French region that is totally worth visiting. This photo is from an inlet called "Calanque de Port Miou"; it is very long and narrow; perfect for establishing a marina. In fact, the inlet is about one kilometer and a half. GUM Shopping Mall, Moscow

I’m still getting the dust off some of my old photos, I took this one in 2013. I was working on a World Series by Renault meeting on the Moscow Raceway; and the day after we had a few free hours to visit the city before going to the airport for our return flight. This is the GUM building, today is a shopping mall but originally was one of the most famous State Department Stores that were located on many Russian cities. Do you like this photo? The Groenerei Canal in Bruges (Belgium)

Nanxiang Ancient Town is located in the Jiading District in the city of Shanghai. This part of the city is quite old, and walking around the ancient streets and canals at night was a great experience. A Narrow Alley in Le Mans (France)

I didn’t travel a lot in the past few months, but working for my company provides me the opportunity to visit Le Mans at least once a year. I didn’t have much time to spend with the camera, but I was happy to visit the old town, known as Cité Plantagenet, one more time. GUM Department Store in Moscow

Hockenheim is a well-known German town due to its motor racing circuit. However, the town itself it is worth a visit. This photo captures one of its buildings—the Protestant town church. Florence Streets (Italy)

On a recent trip to Florence, we left our car parked outside the historical center. This was an excellent opportunity to walk through a collection of narrow and picturesque streets. I could not resist stopping and setting up my tripod to capture some photos and this is one of my favorites. Bruges White House, Belgium

Bruges is an amazing Belgium city. Walking through the streets you will find many wonders—the historic center, the Burg, Town Hall, the Market Halls—however, a visit to the city isn’t complete without a boat trip on its canals. Le Castellet Medieval Church (France)

After years visiting and working at “Le circuit du Castellet” (Paul Ricard Circuit), I finally had the opportunity to see this fantastic medieval village with my own eyes. Many people are attracted to the village because of its architectural heritage—it stands as an architectural display of narrow streets dominated by the church and the castle on the peak. The Church of St. Savior Transfiguration was built in 1030 by the Bishop of Marseilles. It is truly ancient; once inside, you can feel the weight of history bearing down on these austere walls. Hockenheim Library (Germany)

When I first saw this building, I thought it was for the city council, or perhaps it was a small hotel. However, I surprised when I realized I was in front of the Hockenheim public library. This German city is not big, just 20,000 citizens, but to me it seemed smaller, and such a building was more than I expected for a library.Do you like this photo? Calanque de Port-Miou (Cassis, France)

A few days ago, I was working the Paul Ricard Circuit, near the “Côte d’Azur.” After the races, I spent two days on my own in the area. The “Calanques” are one of the wonders of the region; large sea inlets found in a range of 20 km between the city of Cassis and Marseille. This particular one is called “Calanque de Port Miou”; it is very long and narrow and thus was suitable for establishing a marina. This image captures the serene inlet opening.
